Which bitrate should I choose?

128 kbps is small and works well for speech. 192 kbps balances size and music quality. 320 kbps uses the most space. Higher output bitrate cannot recover details missing from the source.

For one hour, approximate MP3 sizes are 58 MB at 128 kbps, 86 MB at 192 kbps and 144 MB at 320 kbps. File metadata and encoder settings can change these values.

MP3 or WAV?

MP3 compresses audio for easy sharing. Supporter WAV output is lossless PCM and is useful when editing, but it is much larger: 44.1 kHz stereo 16-bit audio is about 635 MB per hour. Converting a lossy source to WAV does not restore original quality.
